19-year-old Jaylin Johnson, a suspect in a series of violent crimes across the city, has been arrested. As reported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's official news release, the young man was apprehended in Union County on Tuesday, a joint operation involving the CMPD's Crime Gun Suppression Team and Metro Division Detectives.
Johnson was nabbed with six firearms in his possession. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, he was wanted on 20 outstanding warrants with charges that include Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling. The arrest took place after investigations centered on violent incidents in the Metro, Freedom, and North Divisions.
While Johnson is now being held at the Union County Detention Center, further investigation is active to uncover any additional layers to these crimes. The CMPD's Public Affairs Division is expected to follow up on this case as new information surfaces.
