A storage facility in Galt was the target of a break-in on September 29, affecting local residents and businesses. According to a report from the Galt Police Department's Facebook page, the suspect, later identified as Anthony Davis, 37, of Sacramento, forcefully entered the facility by vandalizing a security keypad before making off with a trailer containing a motorcycle.
In an account that's all too familiar in the Sacramento area, the stolen vehicle was quickly located by Sacramento Police Department, although the motorcycle remained unaccounted for at the time. In a stroke of luck, the victim noticed their missing motorcycle listed for sale in a social media post on Saturday and immediately reached out to authorities, hastening its recovery. The near-instantaneous partnership between the Galt Police Department's detectives and patrol units facilitated the vehicle's retrieval, highlighting the benefits of swift police work and community vigilance.
Davis, who is on probation for a firearms charge, was arrested and subsequently charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm by a felon with a prior conviction, carrying a loaded, concealed firearm within a vehicle, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, as reported by the Galt Police Department. Despite the severity of these charges, Davis was released from the Sacramento County Main Jail hours after his booking, with a future court date pending.
