A police chase on Wednesday in Northwest Miami-Dade ended in multiple crashes, including a collision with a police vehicle, after officers attempted to stop a stolen white Ford F-150 truck. Miami-Dade police units were alerted to the stolen vehicle by a license plate reader around Northwest Ninth Avenue and 83rd Street, triggering the chase that led to the apprehension of the driver who also reportedly assaulted an officer, noted by 7News.

The sequence of events detailed by Local 10 News, began when an officer approached the vehicle during a traffic stop, the driver narrowly missed him while reversing, and subsequently struck a marked police car and another parked vehicle. With the assistance of a Miami-Dade aviation unit, the suspect was located despite briefly losing sight of the truck, until things finally came crashing near Northwest 75th Street and 32nd Avenue.

After the second crash involving a civilian's Hyundai and another police vehicle, the suspect bailed out of the truck near Northwest 36nd Avenue and 76th Street, said 7Skyforce reporter Ralph Rayburn. Captured by cellphone video, which was exclusively obtained by 7News, the suspect was seen running from the pursuing officers before being apprehended.

Both the driver of the damaged Hyundai and the suspect, whose identity has yet to be released by police, were tended to by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews. "The driver of the vehicle here apparently crashed into a police vehicle or sideswiped a police vehicle," Rayburn later seen loaded onto a stretcher himself, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital to be checked out according to 7News.

As the investigation continues, the stolen pickup truck and the damaged Hyundai were towed from the scene. Charges are expected to be brought against the individual after his release from the hospital.
