An alleged car burglar's spree in Elk Grove concluded last Monday, due in part to the vigilance of a community member and the prompt response of the Elk Grove Police Department. The department received a call regarding a suspect, described as wearing a red hoodie, who was reportedly smashing vehicle windows at Bartholomew Sports Park. The caller provided detailed information, including a vehicle description and a potential license plate number, which facilitated a swift pursuit by law enforcement, as posted on the Elk Grove Police Department Facebook page.
Enhancing their investigative efforts, the Real Time Information Center monitored the suspect's movements via traffic cameras, identifying the getaway vehicle traveling southbound on Promenade near Kammerer and stopping at a gas station. Officers acted as the vehicle left the gas station, resulting in the arrest of 18-year-old Clara Colvin, who was still wearing the red hoodie described by the caller.
"Together, We Turn Vision into Victory!" boasted the Elk Grove Police Department's Facebook post, lauding the collaborative effort that led to apprehending Colvin. She has since been booked at the Main Jail facing several charges, including burglary and possession of burglary tools.
