Tampa families managing work and childcare during the ongoing school closures will have a new option for their kids on Tuesday. The Tampa Parks and Recreation Department is launching "School’s Out, Camp’s In," a day camp program that will run from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at various recreation centers across the city, according to the City of Tampa.

"It’s a challenge, and we hope that providing this ‘School’s Out, Camp’s In’ session will help support families," Parks and Recreation Director Tony Mulkey told the publication. The program is designed to help parents returning to work while providing children with a safe and structured environment to stay engaged. This support is offered free of charge, ensuring community assistance is accessible to everyone. To help normalize city operations, classes will also resume Tuesday at Wayne Papy and New Tampa Recreation Center, as stated by the City of Tampa.

The "School’s Out, Camp’s In" program will be available at 20 recreation centers across the city, including Benito, Copeland, and Cyrus Greene, to serve various neighborhoods. Parents can find the full list of locations and details on the City of Tampa's official website and are encouraged to check for the most convenient facility for their children, as five centers are closed. Alternatives have been provided for these closures, directing families who normally attend DeSoto to Cyrus Greene and those from Forest Hills to Copeland.
