Tampa authorities are in the early stages of a death investigation after a body was discovered floating in the Hillsborough River near Rowlett Park, the Tampa Police Department reported yesterday.
The call was received just before 1:30 p.m. yesterday, prompting officers from the Tampa Police Marine Unit to respond to the scene. They retrieved the adult Black male from the water. While detectives are currently withholding details, initial reports indicate no obvious signs of foul play, according to an information released by the Tampa Police Department.
Identifying the deceased is a priority for the department, along with notifying the individual's family. An update is expected once the next of kin have been informed and the Medical Examiner has completed the assessment to determine the cause of death.
