The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, called in to assist the Elbert County Sheriff's Office, reports the shootings occurred during the celebration, affecting victims whose ages ranged from 15 to 19, along with a 41-year-old adult, WSPA details furthermore the incident has resulted in five of the victims being released from Elbert Memorial Hospital after checks, and two others necessitated further medical treatment in Athens, while the heartbreakingly young Jordan was airlifted to AnMed Hospital in Anderson, SC, where he succumbed to his injuries.

In the wake of the shooting, Hart County Schools expressed its profound sorrow, stating, "We are deeply saddened to share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Bry’Shun Jordan, a 15-year-old Hart Academy student. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bry’Shun’s family, friends, and the entire Hart County community during this difficult time," as WSB-TV reported; the school has also taken measures to provide counseling services to students grappling with this tragic event.
