A teenager's night at a football game took a violent turn when he was stabbed at Peoria High School, according to what AZFamily reported. The 17-year-old victim, who was not a student at the school, sustained minor injuries from the incident, which occurred around 9:15 p.m. Friday night.
While treating the injury as minor, the teen was still hospitalized for precautionary measures. As of yet, no suspects have been identified or arrested. Described by local authorities as an isolated incident of violence, Peoria police assured that there was no impending danger to the public, with the investigation ongoing.
FOX 10 Phoenix highlighted a statement from Peoria High School Principal Samuel Chagolla, who conveyed that "violence on our campus will never be tolerated." In his message, he confirmed that the altercation was the result of a disagreement between two individuals.
Despite the stabbing, Chagolla was clear that homecoming festivities would move forward as planned. He added, "Our students have worked so hard preparing for homecoming, which is among the most celebrated traditions at our school." Safety measures, including an increased police presence, have been promised to ensure the security of ongoing events on campus.
