Detectives from the MPD are working to unravel the details of a fatal collision in Northwest DC, which led to the death of an 18-year-old and severe injuries to another individual. As noted in a press release by the Metropolitan Police Department, the crash involved a vehicle reported as recently carjacked and occurred during the early hours of September 29.

The collision occurred when a 2016 Mazda 6, traveling south on 13th Street NW, ran a red light at the intersection with R Street, colliding with a 2023 Tesla Model 3. The driver of the Mazda was critically injured and is currently hospitalized, while the passenger, Devin Clark of Northeast DC, was pronounced dead following failed resuscitation efforts. The Tesla driver, Nicholas Williams of Herndon, VA, was treated for injuries on the scene. Still, subsequently, the authorities charged him with driving under the influence and for operating a vehicle without a permit.
