A 19-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic collision with a car late Monday night in southwest Las Vegas. The accident occurred around 11 p.m. at the intersection of Fort Apache and Desert Inn Roads, as reported by FOX5 Vegas. According to authorities, the teen was riding north on a 2023 Suzuki DRZ400 motorcycle when he collided with a 2008 BMW 528i that was executing a left turn onto eastbound Desert Inn.
The circumstances of the crash, as detailed by witness statements to News3LV, included a flashing yellow arrow for the BMW driver, indicating the turn was permitted but caution was required. In mid-turn, the motorcycle clashed against the passenger side of the BMW.
Emergency responders declared the young motorcyclist deceased at the scene, opting against hospital transport as the teen was beyond resuscitation. "The motorcyclist’s death marks the 117th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction in 2024," LVMPD noted in a release obtained by FOX5 Vegas.
The BMW driver stayed on the scene following the fatal collision and showed no signs of impairment, as both sources noted.
