Three children were hospitalized following a collision involving a South Haven Public Schools bus and a pickup truck this morning, as per reports from South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES). The incident, which occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Phoenix and Blue Star Highway, involved a bus carrying around 25 elementary-age students.
The school bus, part of a shuttle service traveling from LC Mohr High School to North Shore Elementary, saw five of its passengers treated on the scene by emergency crews. The injured, with three needing further evaluation, were taken to Bronson South Haven Hospital. According to the statement from the South Haven Area Emergency Services on Facebook, the remaining students aboard were either transferred to another bus or released to their parents.
No injuries were reported for the occupants of the pickup truck involved in the crash. The ongoing investigation of the incident has been undertaken by South Haven police and Michigan State Police.
