A neighbor, Jane Guzman de Leon, described the chaos, saying, "I saw the whole house inside was full on fire -- fire coming out of the windows." She witnessed two elderly men emerging from the inferno—one with a bloody forehead and the other with skin that appeared to be peeling.
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD) Lieutenant Hugo Reynaga revealed the fire's investigation had taken a turn towards possible arson, making the matter a case for homicide investigators. This detail came as crews discovered the bodies of three men in the residence after the fire was extinguished.
