Authorities in Menomonee Falls have detained three individuals linked to an August home invasion resulting in one person being shot and wounded. According to a FOX6 report, the incident happened at a Weyer Farm Drive residence in the early morning hours of August 18, 2024, where multiple search warrants executed this past Thursday led to the arrests. The response included the Menomonee Falls Police and the fire department, discovering the victim, who was subsequently hospitalized with serious yet non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation, which featured the coordinated efforts of several law enforcement agencies, revealed that the three suspected men forcibly entered the home and engaged with the victim, leading to the shooting. Despite an extensive search by law enforcement on the day of the incident, the suspects initially managed to evade capture. As per TMJ4, the suspects had stolen a 2002 red Jeep Liberty in Milwaukee before the break-in with the intent to find unlocked vehicles to rob in the Menomonee Falls area.
The three individuals arrested, identified as Zamontae Burch, Dezmen Wilks, and Demetri Duvall-Wilks, are now facing charges related to the burglary and the subsequent shooting. Distress echoed through the neighborhood following the incident, with a local resident, Judie Helmer, articulating her unease to TMJ4: "No one was caught and I didn’t know if they could have somehow gotten in or been hiding out. It freaked me out and it was right over there. Too close for comfort in my eyes."
Further details of the case became apparent as a criminal complaint was filed, citing that an accomplice, known only as "Buddy," remained in the stolen vehicle while the trio entered the house through an unlocked door on the night of the crime. This information was made public by a court record provided by WISN, indicating the premeditated nature of the crime, which targeted vehicles and potentially houses perceived to contain valuables. The successful arrest of the suspects brings a measure of relief to the Menomonee Falls community.
