A tragic event unfolded in Jackson County as two lives were claimed in a fiery automobile disaster this past Sunday. WWJ Newsradio reports that Michigan State Police responded to a call around 10:40 a.m. regarding a crash and subsequent car fire on Pulaski Road near Swains Lake Road, located in Pulaski Township, southwest of Jackson.
The scene, which welcomed responders with smoke and fire, was contained by the Concord Fire Department, however, the grisly aftermath revealed two unidentifiable victims inside the consumed 2012 Honda CR-V. Witnesses recounted that the vehicle originally sped down the rural road, and lost control after an attempted overtake gone awry which included crossing a double yellow line and a close encounter with another vehicle before crashing, according to MLive.
The identities of the deceased are tentatively known by authorities who have been in contact with the families, although official confirmation awaits the outcome of the scheduled autopsies; once identities are substantiated, information concerning their ages and hometowns will be disseminated. While intoxicants have not yet been ruled out, the MSP remains vigilant in their investigative pursuits, as expressed by Michigan State Police reports.
MSP continues to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident and urges the public to contribute any relevant knowledge by contacting the Michigan State Police Jackson Post at 517-780-4580, this call to action echoes through the updates provided by WILX, who assert that while the investigation persists in its early stages, discerning whether drugs or alcohol influenced the crash remains a pivotal, yet unresolved facet of this ongoing inquiry.
