Early Sunday morning, a tragic incident unfolded in Tampa when a single-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two men. The Tampa Police Department reported to the scene around 5 a.m. where they discovered a black 2007 Honda Fit that had collided with a wall near a local apartment complex on North 50th Street near East Busch Boulevard. Both occupants, a 29-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, were found deceased.

Details surrounding the crash indicate that the car veered off the road for reasons yet to be uncovered, according to WTSP. The vehicle is said to have struck multiple objects along the roadway before ultimately hitting the wall. The impact forced the closure of North 50th Street in both directions for several hours, causing a considerable traffic diversion until it was eventually cleared and reopened.

Moreover, the investigation has brought to light that neither of the two men was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Tampa Police mentioned to WFLA that speed might have been a contributing factor but have yet to confirm this through their ongoing investigation.

The identities of the victims, including their race—a 29-year-old white male as the driver, and a 32-year-old black male as the passenger—were disclosed in an update by The Tampa Free Press. Despite the relevance of such details to the investigation, their bearing on the accident itself remains yet to be seen.

The Tampa Police Department asks anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The investigation is still ongoing.
