
Gunfire pierced the calm of Long Beach streets in two separate incidents on October 28, leaving two men injured in the aftermath. The Long Beach Police Department responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Cherry Avenue around 9:58 p.m. where they found a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body, detailing the individual was targeted for his property by an assailant who fired upon him and then fled the scene, as reported by the LBPD Blotter.
A second occurrence unfolded prior at 7:46 p.m. in the 400 block of West 5th Street, which also transpired into gunfire, resulting in a male adult victim sustaining a gunshot wound to the lower body. The preliminary report suggests that the victim was embroiled in a physical fight, the skirmish ending with one individual accidentally shooting himself with a firearm that was recovered by officers at the scene, the LBPD specified in their statement.
In the initial incident, Long Beach Fire Department personnel provided critical medical support before transporting the victim to a local hospital, as confirmed by law enforcement. The police are currently investigating these crimes and have shared no further details about potential suspects or the condition of the wounded men beyond declaring the injuries as non-life-threatening.
