Two women were hospitalized after being involved in a two-vehicle crash in Canton Township on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ford Rd. and Sheldon Rd., according to a report by WWJ Newsradio. The drivers, a 61-year-old woman from Canton and a 33-year-old woman from Van Buren Township sustained serious injuries from the collision and were transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The Canton Police Department's Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene to thoroughly investigate the crash details. They have yet to determine who was at fault and the circumstances that led up to the accident. ClickOnDetroit reported that investigators do not believe alcohol contributed significantly as a factor in the crash. Meanwhile, the conditions of both women remain undisclosed as of this writing.
Following the accident, the traffic flow on Ford Road was significantly impacted. Westbound lanes at Sheldon Road were closed, while the eastbound side was reduced to a single lane. Local news outlet Hometown Life indicated that the area experienced heavy congestion, leading police to advise drivers to avoid the area completely.
