Lindbergh High School, the Early Childhood Education Center, and the Idea Center in the Lindbergh School District canceled classes on Thursday due to an unexpected power outage. According to 5 On Your Side, the outage occurred Thursday morning, and the district does not have an estimated time for when power will be restored.
District officials did not provide a reason or cause for the outage but shared, "We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and will update our families and staff as soon as additional information is available," in a message on the high school's website. This incidence comes as a setback after the high school had debuted extensive renovations and a new football field for the 2024 school year. "This is the first normal first-day that we've probably had in a really long time," Principal Eric Cochran reminisced during a conversation with 5 On Your Side on the first day of the school year.
A check of the Ameren outage map at 8:05 a.m. showed that five customers in the area were affected by the outage, as stated by First Alert 4. The district stated that they will keep families updated as developments occur.
The sudden closure was announced around 6:40 a.m. due to a power outage, and there is currently no timeline for when power will be restored, as reported by FOX2now. The renovations that were previously completed included secure main entrances and safety glass on the entryway windows. These improvements were funded by Proposition R, a no-tax-rate-increase bond issue approved by voters in April 2019, as mentioned by 5 On Your Side.
