On Tuesday, community members of Unidos convened in a gathering focused on fortifying the neighborhood's well-being, armed with knowledge and strategies shared by a few notable speakers. The meeting featured insights from Andrea Leon, connected to the local library system, who provided attendees with valuable community activities, and Debrah Garza from Fair Housing who navigated the complexities of the housing system for the participants.
The event, which took place at an undisclosed location further underscored the importance of readiness against unforeseen circumstances, especially regarding one's habitation and personal life. In a statement posted to the Garland Police Department’s Facebook page, organizers extended "a special thank you to Brenda Carmona at Goosehead Insurance Services for her helpful tips on insurance and protecting both life and property."
The success of the Unidos meeting wasn't merely in the information shared but, in the fostering of community ties, a sentiment echoed by the acknowledgment of gratitude for all who contributed. Knowledge, they say, is power, and power was indeed what was harvested here, empowering individuals with the acumen to steer their lives and homes toward a safer horizon.
