A missing elderly woman previously thought to be residing with her son and an unknown male in Union City was later found living at an assisted living center. This discovery, as reported by the Union City Police Department, came after officers were called to the family's home on Appian Way for a welfare check on August 16, following a Silver Alert issued for the missing woman.
The police had initially feared for the woman's safety, but the tension shifted when they came to investigate the home thoroughly. Inside, they found a body in a severe state of decay positioned on a toilet in the bathroom, according to a statement from the Union City Police Department. In addition to this grim discovery, another adult male was found in the residence, visibly in poor health and showing signs of neglect. The individual was promptly taken to receive medical care at a local hospital.
Details regarding the cause of death or any potential wrongdoing are sparse at the moment. The Union City Police Department has assured the public that no clear indicators of foul play are involved. The identification of the deceased is still pending, and the Alameda County Coroner's Office has been roped in to conduct the examination and positively identify the remains.
