
Kapa‘a's scenic and treasured Ke Ala Hele Makālae will be temporarily closed this week, as announced by the Department of Parks and Recreation (DOPR). Maintenance work is needed to keep the public space safe, leading to the closure of certain sections of the coastal path today and tomorrow.
Today's closure will span from the former Otsuka’s building to Keālia River Bridge, beginning at 7 a.m., the work is expected to wrap up by 2 p.m., according to details posted by the County of Kauai website. On the following day, Friday, Keālia Beach Park to Kuna Bay will be subject to similar restrictions, adhering to the same time frame.
The DOPR, in partnership with the Department Public Works, is leading these efforts to conduct extensive maintenance. This routine care is part of the department's commitment to ensuring that the pathways remain safe and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.
