A Vallejo man, Kendric Prudhomme, was arrested last Thursday for possessing counterfeit currency and being linked to a stolen vehicle. The Colma Police Department reported that their automated license plate recognition system, Flock Safety ALPR, flagged the vehicle, which had been reported stolen in August by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded swiftly to the alert, locating the vehicle in the Serra Center parking lot. While they observed the area, Prudhomme, 40, approached the vehicle and was detained. He had allegedly attempted to use counterfeit $20 bills at a nearby store just before being apprehended.
Upon his arrest, Prudhomme was found with additional counterfeit currency and was taken to the San Mateo County Jail. The stolen vehicle was towed, and authorities expect it to be returned to its rightful owner. Prudhomme now faces charges for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and being in possession of a stolen vehicle in addition to the counterfeit bill charges. The police department shared details of the incident in a social media post.
