Vallejo Police Department officers apprehended a man and sequestered two loaded firearms following a traffic stop on Sunday. According to a Vallejo Police Department Facebook post, the action transpired shortly after 1:30 A.M. when officers patrolling the area heard gunshots near Capitol and Marin Streets. They reported seeing a black Kia Sportage driving on the wrong side of the road along Florida Street.
The officers proceeded to make a traffic stop to investigate the violation quickly. Upon a records check, it was discovered that the driver was a convicted felon without a valid driver's license. For safety reasons, the driver was detained and had to sit in the rear of a patrol car while an inventory search was conducted on the vehicle before it was towed. This search led to the uncovering of two loaded firearms; one registered to someone else, the other a stolen item from Arizona, equipped with a high-capacity magazine.
The driver faced immediate arrest and was transported to Solano County Jail on multiple charges, including possession of a stolen firearm by a convicted felon. Vallejo PD declared both firearms as evidence, and the Kia was towed from the scene.
