According to the Union County website, Union County Veterans Services is providing comprehensive support to veterans and their spouses, helping them with applications and understanding their entitlements. Michelle Marcano, Director of Union County Veterans Services, stated, "Our veterans have faced immense challenges and it is our duty to support them and their families, especially when it comes to health issues like hypertension that can have serious long-term effects."
The addition of hypertension to the list of diseases presumed linked to military service indicates a policy shift to tackle the long-term health effects of wartime environmental hazards.
