Waimea drivers should be aware of upcoming temporary road closures as the Department of Public Works Wastewater Management Division conducts inspections of the wastewater system. From Monday to Friday, routine inspections will take place, causing traffic disruptions from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.

According to a notice posted by Kauai County's official website, motorists on Waimea Canyon Drive and those traveling on Makeke Road, Menehune Road, Ala Wai Road, Maile Road, Ape Place, Panako Road, and Kahakai Road should expect intermittent lane closures from Monday to Friday. These closures will allow access to sewer maintenance holes, with alternating traffic maintained in one lane to ensure continued flow in both directions.

Local residents can rest assured that access to properties will remain open during these inspections. To facilitate traffic flow, flaggers will be strategically positioned within the work zones to direct vehicles.

The department encourages the public to plan accordingly for these intermittent lane closures. For any questions or concerns, Mr. Donald Fujimoto from Kauai's Wastewater Management Division can be contacted at 808-241-4083 or via email at [email protected].
