The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is once again inviting community members to dig into their closets for a noble cause. Their annual “Warm Your Hearts with Coats Drive” is in full swing, continuing through October 26, with the simple goal of collecting new and gently used coats for those in need as winter's chill approaches.
Residents can participate by dropping off coats at several PRCR locations including the Alston-Massenburg Center, Flaherty Park Community Center, and Joyner Park Community Center, offering convenient options for busy schedules. These facilities are opening their doors wide, Monday through Saturday, with hours that span from the early stirrings of dawn to the waning evening hours, though they keep their doors shut on Sunday.
According to the official announcement on the Wake Forest website, every coat that's donated will find its way to a child or teen in need. The distribution event itself is set to unfold at the Alston-Massenburg Center on November 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing not just a coat, but a touch of warmth to the community's young hearts.
James Triplette, the AMC Supervisor, is the point of contact for anyone who has questions or needs further information about the drive. Triplette told the Wake Forest official news that the drive "is an easy, yet effective way for area residents to pass along coats and jackets they no longer need."
