An encounter in East Troy led to a Walworth County deputy shooting an armed suspect, now in critical condition, as reported by local outlets. The incident occurred Monday afternoon after a 911 call was received about a woman attacking a man with a razor blade at a residence on Wilmers Grove Road, according to FOX6 News.
Officials from both the Walworth County Sheriff's Office and East Troy Police Department confirmed the caller had been cut with a razor blade; following this, the suspect, armed with a knife, exited the home through a window, despite being given numerous commands to drop the weapon she advanced toward the officers and a deputy felt compelled to respond with lethal force, using a rifle to shoot the woman, this account was verified by CBS 58 News.
Once the suspect was struck, immediate medical assistance was provided at the scene before transferring her to a hospital where she remains in critical condition, WISN coverage details. The victim of the initial attack incurred non-life-threatening injuries and a third resident was reportedly unharmed during the episode.
Following the shooting, the suspect now faces charges including second-degree recklessly endangering safety while armed, disorderly conduct while armed, and felony intimidation of a victim the deputy involved has been placed on administrative duty per standard policy, which is routine in such officer-involved shooting cases, and the investigation is being led by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office.
