Raleigh is set to see a boost in tech jobs as Weatherby Healthcare, part of the CHG Healthcare family, has announced an investment exceeding $7 million in the city. This move promises to introduce 148 new job opportunities while keeping on 374 existing employees.
Specializing in locum tenens staffing—that's temporary medical staff placements for the uninitiated—Weatherby Healthcare is further cementing its commitment to North Carolina. "We’re thrilled to be making the move to Raleigh. We look forward to providing high-paying jobs and the best in workplace culture to Wake County residents,” said Luke Woodyard, president of the company, in a statement obtained by Wake County news.
The choice of Raleigh is no roll of the dice; it's the result of a considered decision, hinged upon the area's robust talent pipeline essential for filling the upcoming tech-related positions. Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin echoes this sentiment, highlighting the skilled workforce and ready-to-use office space as key factors in Weatherby's choice to expand in Raleigh.
Weatherby will be setting up shop in a 46,000 square foot space at One North Hills Tower, joining a local business community that is no stranger to new and expanding businesses—Jewelers Mutual Group, JT International, and Audemars Piguet have also recently announced their moves to Raleigh. “This marks our 40th economic development announcement in five years and brings the total number of jobs created to more than 11,000, proving Wake County is the place businesses want to be," Chair Shinica Thomas of the Wake County Board of Commissioners told Wake County news.
Weatherby's expansion isn’t just about bolstering its workforce; it’s also an endorsement of the company’s DEI values. They come to the table with three guiding DEI principles drawn from core beliefs intended to maintain a successful and people-focused business approach. It's a welcoming note in the diverse and inclusive business landscape of Wake County employers.
Entities like Raleigh Economic Development and Wake County Economic Development, amongst others, played instrumental roles in bringing Weatherby's expansion to fruition. These organizations are part of a collaborative effort to stimulate job creation, investment, and a fair economic landscape in the area.
