Commuters breathed a sigh of relief as the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90 reopened following a closure caused by a single-vehicle rollover crash near State Highway 151 yesterday evening. Details about injuries have not been disclosed, as KSAT reported. The incident brought traffic to a halt around 9 p.m., with updates posted shortly after on the Texas Department of Transportation's website.
Another tragic incident on the same highway earlier this morning in Sugar Land involved a fatal collision resulting in two deaths and a third person being hospitalized after a Honda Pilot, driven by Gonzalo Christian Sosa, was going the wrong direction and crashed into a Toyota Highlander, driven by Prosper Lusinde Kiswaga, Sugar Land police and fire departments responded to the scene and authorities are working to determine the cause and any contributing factors to the fatal event, according to Click2Houston.
Both fatal victims, identified post-notification of next-of-kin, as Sosa, 41, of Houston and Kiswaga, 52, of Richmond, were pronounced dead at the scene while the third individual was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment; details about that person's condition were not made immediately available. It is unclear at this time whether Sosa was under the influence at the time of the crash.
The Sugar Land Police Department has since reopened the roadway after conducting preliminary investigations and managing on-site exigencies, meanwhile, they review surveillance videos to further understand the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash and anyone with information or who may have witnessed the accident are encouraged to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
