The White Settlement Fire Department recently celebrated its own during the 2023 Awards Banquet, an annual event dedicated to honoring the bravery and dedication of its fire service personnel. Last month's gathering highlighted the achievements of firefighters and EMS providers, with a special emphasis on the support provided by the local community, city officials, and the heartfelt backing from their families, according to a social media post from the White Settlement Fire Department.
Among the heroes recognized, several obtained commendable certifications through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Prominent certifications include Advanced Fire Investigator and Advanced Structure Firefighter awarded to David Kostyak, as well as the notable Master titles in four different categories snatched by Randy Rogers. These accreditations not only commended individual prowess but also emphasized a collective dedication to improving service and safety for the community.
The night also featured an array of commendations, with the Life-Saving Award going to teams responsible for pivotal interventions on January 23 and December 9, 2023. David Kostyak and James Landry were among the names mentioned more than once, illustrating their consistent involvement in critical lifesaving efforts. Other notable recognitions included Travis Broom, who was honored as the "2023 Firefighter of the Year," and Nathan Molder, who was named the "2023 EMS Provider of the Year," for their exemplary service.
Perhaps the embodiment of the department's relentless commitment, the C-Shift was designated as 2023's Busiest Shift, handling a staggering 1,129 calls out of the 3,294 total calls for service. This significant statistic underscores not just the demands placed on these public servants but their unwavering response to the call of duty.
