Worcester Police Department officers were swiftly on scene at a Chandler Street home yesterday evening after reports circulated of a male brandishing a gun. A Facebook post from the department details that the incident occurred at around 7:40 p.m., with officers from various units responding. The situation quickly escalated as multiple males attempted to suddenly flee upon the arrival of law enforcement, triggering a chase that ended with the apprehension of a seventeen-year-old Worcester resident said to have been in possession of both a replica and a real, loaded firearm.
The juvenile, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his age, now faces multiple firearm charges. According to the Worcester Police Department, he has been charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity weapon with a feeding device, and trespassing.
Following the arrest, the Worcester PD’s Crime Scene Unit took over to meticulously process the scene, ensuring all evidence, particularly the functional firearm, was securely collected.
