
A 15-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting at a Memphis food market that occurred earlier this year, according to Action News 5. The incident, which resulted in the death of a man after a confrontation at the Friendly Food Market on East McLemore Avenue on August 14, has now seen a significant development following a traffic stop by Memphis police.
Detailed reports from FOX13 Memphis indicate that the shooting occurred at around 7:58 p.m., and the victim later died at the hospital, after being in critical condition, the patrol officers part of Operation Code Zero apprehended two individuals in a Toyota Camry with expired tags during a stop on November 1, the car later found to bear fraudulent tags and to contain both marijuana and a weapon.
About the arrests, the Memphis Police Department released information that confirmed the 15-year-old was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a weapon, these additional charges add layers of complexity to a case that has already struck a chord in the heart of the South Memphis community.
The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Deniro Tate, has also faced charges, including possession of a controlled substance, violation of vehicle registration law, and altering, falsifying, or forging auto titles or assignment plates, he was released on his recognizance, as per the Memphis Police Department.
