
Tragedy struck on a relatively quiet Columbus street when officers were called to the scene of a shooting in the 2900 block of Southfield Dr., where they discovered 18-year-old Raheem Dawkins with a gunshot wound on November 22, 1:01 PM; emergency responders rushed Dawkins to the hospital but, despite their efforts, he was declared dead at 1:32 PM. The Columbus Police Department has confirmed that Dawkin's family has been notified of his untimely death.
At the crime scene, another adult male came forward, asserting that he was the shooter, but claimed it was in self-defense after an altercation with Dawkins. The officials have not released his identity yet, and the case remains ambiguous as detectives work to uncover the motive behind the incident. However, the man is reportedly collaborating with the investigation team. According to the Columbus Division of Police report, the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
