A 62-year-old woman was hospitalized with suspected injuries after being hit by a car in Spring Lake, according to several local news sources. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. today at the intersection of E Exchange Street and N Lake Street.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office told WOODTV that a 22-year-old woman from Spring Lake Township was driving eastbound on E. Exchange Street when she stopped at the intersection, and while turning left onto N. Lake Street, she struck the pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk. The driver called 911 promptly to report the incident and remained at the scene.
Treatment was provided to the victim at the scene before she was transported to the hospital. According to the information gathered by WZZM 13, the woman sustained suspected internal injuries and the crash is still under investigation.
As per WHTC, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Dill reported that the pedestrian was looking to cross North Lake Street in the marked crosswalk when she was hit. The victim was later taken to Trinity Health in Muskegon for treatment. As of now, the authorities have yet to release any names as the investigation continues.
