The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is renewing efforts to solve a cold case. Estelle Pike, 83, was found dead in her bed at a Castro Valley nursing home on November 21, 1976. Her death was later determined to be a homicide.
Details about the case resurfaced in a recent Alameda County Sheriff's Office social media post seeking fresh leads. At the time of Pike's death, witnesses reported seeing an unknown male, described as a white juvenile between 16 to 17 years old, around 5'7", with a thin build, and sporting light brown, curly hair. This individual, who was believed to be possibly intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance, remains a person of interest in the case.
