Prepping for the winter season, the Allegheny County Parks Department has announced official opening dates for local favorites. The South Park Ice Rink is set to welcome the public tomorrow, kicking things off with two skating sessions on its first day. Following suit, the North Park Ice Rink will open on November 26, offering evening public skating to kickstart its season.
According to Allegheny County’s announcement, the winter wonder will last until mid-March, dependent on the mercy of the weather and rink conditions. Regular public skating times and opportunities to practice your hockey moves with open stick sessions are segmented throughout the week.
Regarding practical details, admission is $5 for residents and a buck more for those outside the county. Skate rentals and possibly skate sharpening make the outing affordable, with prices just slightly higher for non-residents. If you need a spot to stash your goods, coin lockers are available for a quarter.
