Authorities are currently investigating a double homicide following a shooting incident last Saturday that left two young people dead. The victims were discovered in an apartment in the 600 block of Slaughter Street, with officers responding to the scene at around 10:22 p.m., according to the official report released by the Arlington Police Department.
Upon arrival, police found a 19-year-old male and an 18-year-old female unresponsive, each bearing multiple gunshot wounds. Declared deceased at the scene was the young man, while the young woman, although initially alive, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. After the shooting was heard, witnesses observed a group fleeing from the apartment's vicinity, quickly entering a vehicle and driving off.
The motives for the shooting are still being investigated, and detectives are looking for more evidence, including surveillance footage. They determined that nothing had been stolen from the victims, who were not residents of the complex. The young man had rented the apartment for the weekend through a short-term rental site. Multiple shell casings have been found at the crime scene.
