Arlington's festive season just got a little brighter with the return of the Texas Christkindl Market, now in its 14th year of operation. The market, which has become a hallmark of holiday celebrations in the area, is inspired by the nearly seven-decade-long sister-city relationship between Arlington and Bad Königshofen in Germany. For those who yearn for a little Old World charm amid the Texas winter, this European-style Christmas market promises to deliver.
The intricate array of twinkling lights and jovial decorations create an atmosphere that's distinctly more Bavarian village than Texan town. "A dazzling world of twinkling lights, captivating decorations, and mouthwatering holiday aromas," is how the event is described in an announcement on the City of Arlington. The market showcases a selection of handcrafted gifts and exclusive collectibles, such as the sought-after Käthe Wohlfahrt merchandise that's straight from the iconic Rothenburg ob der Tauber Christmas Village.
Managed by the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, the event is conveniently situated on the North Plaza of Globe Life Field. It operates daily between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm from November 22–24, and then from November 29 through December 23. A notable highlight for many will undoubtedly be the Grand Opening and Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for 6:30 PM on November 29. Attendees can expect an admission-free experience that's as delightful for the wallet as it is for the holiday spirit.
