Atlantans can look forward to a smoother and more tranquil commute during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The City of Atlanta has announced a moratorium on construction-related street disruptions, which will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, and run until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, December 2, the city's transportation department said in a statement.
During the holiday moratorium period, no construction-related road, lane, or sidewalk closures will be allowed on Atlanta's side streets, local streets, or major roads. This will help reduce traffic delays and make it easier for residents and visitors to get around the city. The only exceptions will be for ongoing projects with stricter restrictions already in place.
By reducing road closures and construction, city officials aim to ease the stress of holiday travel, making it easier for families to reunite.
