Get ready to ring in the holiday cheer with the City of Aurora as they light up the night with their annual Holiday Tree Lighting and Merry Makers Market on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The festivities kick off on the Great Lawn of the Aurora Municipal Center at 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, transforming it into a winter wonderland.
Starting from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the indoor market within the Aurora Central Library offers a shopping haven for those looking for that special gift. Described by the City of Aurora as “a unique market features a large variety of products from local and regional small businesses,” this is the place to find those one-of-a-kind presents that you won't spot in your standard mall. For the complete list of vendors, one can visit the city's official website.
The tree lighting ceremony is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., promising more than just the spectacular moment when the tree bursts into light. It’s a family-friendly event that includes a slew of holiday-themed activities, sweet treats, and live performances. According to the City of Aurora, guests will be graced by performances from Aurora Heart Dancers and The Original Dickens Carolers, with special appearances by Anna and Elsa for the young (and young at heart), and Santa Claus himself.
For those interested in a bit of local culture and generosity, the Aurora History Museum is hosting the 25th annual Festival of Wreaths. It's a charming exhibit, where wreaths decorated by community members and local businesses are on display and up for grabs. All donated wreaths are displayed at the museum’s Community Gallery until Sunday, Dec. 6. For more details about the Festival of Wreaths, the Aurora History Museum has more information on its website.
