Panic briefly gripped Austin Community College Eastview Campus earlier this week, students and staff were placed on lockdown following a shooting incident nearby. The incident reportedly occurred near Bedford Street and Webberville Road, where the Austin Police Department responded to a call at around 4:35 p.m. A teenage victim was found with gunshot wounds and was promptly transported to a local trauma facility in critical condition, as CBS Austin reported. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the identity and apprehension status of a suspect, remain unclear at this stage.
For the students, faculty, and staff at ACC, it was a short but harrowing span of uncertainty as the college took measures to ensure their safety. ACC later lifted the secure order at 5:43 p.m., resuming activities and classes after the police had given the all-clear, as per CBS Austin.
