Baltimore is gearing up for some cool holiday cheer this year with the return of "Winter on the Waterfront" to Inner Harbor, starting November 9. As per reports from WMAR-2 News, the festive season, the iconic Inner Harbor is set to become a lively hub of winter festivities featuring an ice-skating rink and the annual Christmas Village. To spread good tidings, the Waterfront Partnership announced the transformation of the harbor promenade into a winter wonderland that will last through January 2025.
Highlights of the celebration include the return of the Ice Rink, situated atop the amphitheater, nestled between the Harborplace pavilions. On opening day, the first 50 skaters can carve up the ice void of charge. According to the Baltimore Fishbowl, alongside the free skating, there will be a DJ and comforting refreshments like hot cocoa, coffee, and pastries provided by Crust by Mack while supplies last.
The enthusiasm for the season's joy is palpable in statements provided by sponsors behind this urban winter escapade. "We are honored to continue supporting the Inner Harbor Ice Rink, a cherished tradition that brings joy and excitement to the heart of Baltimore during the holiday season," Amy Elias, representing the Pearlstone Family Fund, as per WMAR-2 News, adding that their efforts are aimed at helping families and visitors come together to celebrate the season, create lasting memories, and experience the magic of winter in our city. The Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds echo this sentiment, their president Elizabeth R. "Buffy" Minkin noting the rink as a centerpiece of communal holiday cheer.
For those ready to shop beyond hot cocoa, the Christmas Village is open from November 28 to December 24, offering plenty of holiday gifts, foods, and treats in a European-style market. Santa will visit for photos on December 8 and 21 from noon to 3 p.m., as detailed by WMAR-2 News.
