In a significant drug bust, Berrien County Sheriff's deputies have confiscated 123 pounds of cocaine from a Canadian truck driver on Interstate 94. On the evening of Monday, authorities pulled over a Freightliner semi-truck. During the subsequent inspection, deputies discovered the narcotics with a street value estimated at $1.5 million, according to a report from Detroit News.
Berrien County deputies, acting on a tip about drugs being transported, worked with Michigan State Police and other agencies to intercept and search the vehicle. This operation highlights law enforcement's ongoing efforts to monitor highways for illegal activities, following similar seizures in St. Clair County and at the Blue Water and Ambassador Bridges, as MLive detailed.
The arrested driver, 22-year-old Sukhraj Singh of Canada, was booked into the Berrien County Jail, where he is being held for drug charges. This incident highlights an ongoing battle against high-volume drug trafficking in the region, with several cases involving Canadian drivers transporting large quantities of cocaine into the United States being reported over the past year, as detailed by FOX 17 News.
