A boil water advisory affecting several St. Louis neighborhoods has been lifted after being in place for over a day. The advisory followed a water main break near Branch Street under Interstate 70. According to the City of St. Louis Water Division, recent tests show no signs of contamination, ensuring the water supply is safe, as per the FOX 2 Now report.

The advisory, issued as a precaution, affected neighborhoods like Jeff-Vander-Lou, Carr Square, St. Louis Place, Benton Park, Marine Villa, and Soulard. Residents were instructed to boil water for three minutes and avoid using ice from ice makers. Spectrum Local News confirmed these measures are no longer needed as the advisory has been lifted.

The Tuesday evening water main break caused low pressure and forced the closure of the I-70 exit onto Branch Street. Conner Kerrigan, a spokesperson for Mayor Tishaura Jones' office, called it complicated and highlighted the city's aging water infrastructure. As First Alert 4 reported, Kerrigan stated, "These upgrades need to be happening, and that’s why we’re doing the work to find funding, get the people out here and make fixes."

Businesses in the Soulard neighborhood adapted to the boil water advisory despite a day's loss. Big Daddy’s co-owner, Jon Vieluf, told First Alert 4 he bought bottled water and canned soda and used existing ice to continue service. City leaders are discussing funding solutions for St. Louis' aging water system, including the possible use of Rams settlement funds.
