Boston is grappling with a wet weather pattern that's expected to linger until the weekend. Today's forecast sees a 50% chance of rain with new precipitation amounts measuring between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Temperatures will hover near 55 degrees with the potential for south wind gusts as high as 13 to 17 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight, the likelihood of rainfall spikes to 80%, bringing a quarter to half an inch more precipitation before giving way to fog and dipping temperatures around 39 degrees, the east wind will shift northwest after midnight, easing the storm's hold over the area. Saturday will likely see rain resume after 9 am, despite temporary fog lifting, and gusts might escalate to 33 mph in a day dominated by clouds and the temperature creeping close to 47 degrees. "Rain continues Friday," reported NBC Boston, emphasizing that while breaks of sun are expected, the final wave of showers will roll in through the afternoon and into the night.
The forecast promises a clearer outlook for Sunday, with mostly sunny skies and a high around 51 degrees, sustained by a steady west wind. Looking into the week, Monday is slated to maintain the sunny streak with similar temperatures before a chance of rain returns Monday night. Tuesday's conditions present a flip of the coin with equal odds for rain or sun.
Thanksgiving will be mostly sunny with a high of 43 degrees. However, New Englanders should expect a possible storm on Black Friday. "This cold will set the table for an untimely storm by Black Friday," NBC Boston said. The storm may bring cold air and snow, with very cold temperatures expected after Thanksgiving.
