Boulder businesses are on high alert as a rash of burglaries has been sweeping through the area. The Boulder Police Department has released a statement detailing a spate of thefts targeting exterior lockboxes at local establishments. According to the City of Boulder, the thieves have been forcibly removing these lockboxes to gain access to the keys stored inside, subsequently using them to enter and steal cash drawers from various businesses.
The burglaries have been happening across different days, primarily during the overnight hours, suggesting a premeditated pattern designed to exploit the quiet darkness. The Boulder Police Department encourages anyone who might recognize the suspects, depicted in provided images that admittedly do not boast high clarity, to come forward. Described as three white or Latino males around 5’10” in height and clad in hoodies, the suspects have attempted to forego detection by using socks to obscure their hands. "Though the suspect images aren’t the best, we’re hoping someone in our community might recognize someone or know something about these crimes," as obtained by the City of Boulder.
This string of crimes has predominantly affected businesses located on Pearl Street and Arapahoe Avenue, with incidents recorded between October 29th and November 14th. In response to these events, local business owners have been asked to remain vigilant and consider the security of their lockboxes and property.
