A fatal ATV collision in Pompano Beach on a recent Saturday evening has prompted an investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office. The incident, which led to the death of Alexander Frometa, occurred around 7 p.m. near the 2600 block of West Atlantic Boulevard. According to WSVN, the crash involved two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and the driver responsible for the collision has yet to be found.
Detectives believe that the driver of a Quad ATV made an improper turn across a median, subsequently colliding with the Yamaha Raptor 700 ATV driven by Frometa. The violent impact of the collision was forceful enough to eject Frometa. BSO has confirmed that he was later pronounced dead after being transported to Broward Health North. Eyewitness accounts or any form of substantial evidence are now being sought actively to find the driver who did choose to flee the scene. Information regarding the accident has been requested by the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit and can be provided to Detective Gino Tonna at (954) 321-4888 or through Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS, where informants may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000, as reported by Local 10.
The Broward Sheriff's Office highlighted that both ATVs and other off-road vehicles were being operated improperly on the streets at the time of the accident. The aftermath has left law enforcement to piece together the events that culminated in this loss of life, and to question what preventative measures could be established to mitigate future incidents of this nature.
