Shoppers at a Greensburg Shop 'n Save were met with an unusual sight yesterday afternoon when a car unexpectedly rammed through the store’s façade. The incident, which left a hole in a mural-adorned wall, was a case of mistaken pedals. The vehicle plowed into the East Pittsburgh Street supermarket just before 2 p.m., causing merchandise mayhem. "Unfortunately, a customer made a mistake when they were driving. They accidentally hit the gas when they meant to hit the brake, and there you have it," store owner Tom Charley stated, as per WTAE.
Despite the harrowing scene, no injuries were reported. Meanwhile, Greensburg Fire Chief Tom Bell confirmed that medics had checked the driver and did not require further treatment. However, as TribLIVE reported, the motive behind the vehicle's lurch forward remains unknown.
The store management acted swiftly to address the damage. "Some patch work was done on the wall," Charley reassured, promising a return to normalcy today. In an unplanned twist for shoppers, the store informed its customers of the "unplanned construction" through a light-hearted note on its Facebook page. Revealing further, store manager Rob Jones indicated that while produce shelving was knocked over and the case pushed out, they are boarding up the wall, and restocking should resume the following day, as reported by WTAE.
