Last night, a car-to-car shooting in Rancho Cucamonga led to a police pursuit and the subsequent overnight closure of the westbound 210 Freeway, causing significant delays for early morning commuters today.
CBS News Los Angeles reported that the San Bernardino police witnessed the shooting incident around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday before the suspects fled. Police said that gunfire hit an unmarked police car, prompting a pursuit on the 215 and 210 Freeways. During the chase, the suspect drove at speeds over 100 mph and fired additional shots at officers in marked vehicles who were in pursuit.
According to FOX LA, two individuals were apprehended following the dramatic chase. The closure, affecting the stretch between Day Creek Blvd. and Milliken Avenue, lasted until approximately 6:30 a.m. Friday, when lanes were reopened to traffic. However, the precise location of the shooting has not been disclosed, and the investigation is still underway.
