
A gas leak at the Western School of Technology in Catonsville this afternoon prompted the evaluation of 12 people. Emergency crews swiftly responded to the scene to ensure students' and staff's safety. As reported by CBS News Baltimore, the situation unfolded around noon when fire crews and BGE employees were called to address the leak outside the school, located at 100 Kenwood Avenue.
According to the fire department, the situation was contained promptly, and while a dozen individuals—including minors and adults—needed medical evaluation, no one required hospital treatment, as detailed by WMAR-2 News. Student safety was the top priority during the incident, with unaffected students moving to a safe area of the building while the issue was carefully resolved.
The cause of the gas leak hasn’t been disclosed, but fire crews and BGE staff secured it outside the school. By 12:27 p.m., the scene was cleared, and the school resumed its normal routine.
